Microsoft has officially discontinued production of the Xbox One X and Xbox One S without a disc tray. The company is doing that in preparation for the arrival of the new game console, the Xbox Series X, reports The Verge .
Microsoft calls it a logical step “in the run-up to the Xbox Series X”, which should be released late this year. The Xbox One S with disk tray will still be made and sold for the time being.
It is not known how many copies of the Xbox One X and Xbox One S All Digital Edition are still in circulation. The available devices are still being sold.
The Xbox One X was released in November 2017 and was a more powerful console than the 2013 Xbox One. Among other things, the game console could handle a higher 4K resolution for sharper images on 4K TVs.
The Xbox One S All Digital Edition was released last April and was an Xbox One S without a disc tray. That made the device a cheaper alternative for people who only download games and do not buy them physically.
